Mixed VSAT and terrestrial routing
Static routing in the Osiris plateform The ReNaSS (renass.u-strasbg.fr) station LEPF is equipped with a short period and a broad band sensor. The Kephren data logger is integrated in the Copernic casing developped by Géosciences Azur (the casing provides power supply, heating, ethernet LAN, and various sensors for temperature including external power supply and phone line monitor, internal/external temperature etc.). Agecodagis was requested to send the SeedLink data flow over a VSAT link. Com-IP (www.com-ip.fr) provides the VSAT link and Agecodagis has implemented the appropriate routing policy directly in the Kephren data logger so that the SeedLink traffic is sent over the VSAT link and the other traffic (FTP, maintenance, web etc.) remains on the ADSL link. The VSAT router is just connected on the LAN in the Copernic casing and the Kephren data logger does the job. No special configuration was necessary neither on the VSAT router, nor on the ADSL router.

The photo illustrates the installation of the station on the slope. The system is powered by solar pannels. The complete system includes the seismometer, the Osiris station, a satellite transmitter and a rugged computer that performs signal processing and message transmission. A wireless connection allows maintenance tasks to be performed from the road on the opposite slope of the valley. Photos were kindly provided by Météo-France / Centre d'Etudes de la Neige.
